The following booklet is reproduced on this website for educational purposes only. It was published in 1944-45 and is part of the collections of the
Park Cities Historic and Preservation Society.
The vote on incorporating with Dallas occurred in 1945 with the residents of Preston Hollow agreeing to incorporate and the residents of University Park
and Highland Park declining the opportunity. The town of Highland Park incorporated in 1913 and University Park in 1924, and were quite a bit more
established than Preston Hollow who had only incorporated six years before the vote, in 1939. It is interesting in light of what we know today to see the
discussion laid out on these pages. It is also interesting to get a glimpse of what Dallas was like before Central Expressway and the North Dallas Tollway
were built.
It is interesting to read through this brochure, knowing what we do today about how Dallas and the Park Cities have developed.
